O God, some events that happen far away to total strangers have the power to break our hearts. As those who were killed in Pittsburgh and Lexington are laid to eternal rest, we acknowledge our connection as your children and pray for the wisdom and courage to confront hate and fear. In spite of the pain or maybe because of it, we know that we must share in the hurt and the rebuilding. Be with us as we take small steps every day to build up your kingdom in this world, relying always on your mercy and grace. May our lives be our prayer. Amen.
