Holy God, in the midst of summer’s heat and humidity we go seeking respite in the form of a darkened room, a cold glass of water, the movement of air and yet we are mindful of so many for whom this weather is the norm not the exception. May we turn toward and not away from those looking for relief and may we be the comfort that someone else needs – with a listening heart, with our time and with our patience, even when that is hard to muster. Let us turn again and again toward you and the love that abides in you and then in us. Then let us share that love with generosity and compassion. In your most holy name, we pray. Amen.
