Midweek prayer

Wash over us, Loving God, and create in us a life-giving heart.  Like a summer shower that glistens on the grass and waters the gardens and potted flowers large and small, so too do we need to be rejuvenated for the work of living and loving to which you call us each day.  Cleanse us of petty grudges and jealousies and make room for the mercy and kindness that are so much a part of what we value most in your greatness.  In the newness that is each day, may our better angels take flight.  Amen.
