Summer is winding down and still there is so much rest and relaxation, travel and family time, that we want to enjoy. You, God of new beginnings, are in the midst of it all and you call us to Sabbath keeping. Waiting a whole year to rest is unhealthy and does not bear in mind the need for moments of rest, built into each week and each day. To breathe in deeply moments of peace is to breathe out strength and compassion for the work ahead. Remind us again and again that to rest is to renew. May our rest bring us closer to your being, today and everyday. You are blessing upon blessing, Most Holy One. Amen.
